ADDED ATTRACTIONS

World War II Static Aircraft Display
June 14th - 9am to 2pm - Clarinda Schenck Airport

We are pleased to announce two exciting and complementary additional events at the 2026 Glenn Miller Birthplace Festival in Clarinda. On Sunday, June 14, the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society is proud to present a World War II static aircraft display at the Clarinda Schenck Airport from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Two P-51 “Mustang” fighters that fought in the skies over Europe will be joining us to top off the weekend festivities: from the Liberty Foundation Museum in Douglas, GA, the two-seat P-51D painted in the “Old Crow” scheme of triple-ace Gen. Clarence “Bud” Anderson of the 357th Fighter Squadron, and the “Sweet Revenge” of the 334th Fighter Squadron from Fagan Fighters Museum in Granite Falls, MN. Following the display, the Liberty Foundation will offer a limited number of “Old Crow” VIP rides, available for pre-booking at $2,250 or walk-up at $2,500. For additional details, please contact the Liberty Foundation at (678) 589-7433 or e-mail info@libertyfoundation.org.

Display of Traditional Japanese Musical Instruments
June 13th - Glenn Miller Birthplace Museum

To follow last year’s incredible Japanese Taiko Drum performance on the Town Square, on Saturday, June 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tanis Sotelo from the Japan-America Society of Iowa will host a special all-day display of traditional Japanese musical instruments and music at the Glenn Miller Birthplace Museum. His cultural presentations will describe the Taiko (drum) and Shinobue (bamboo flute) from the 2025 performance, as well as the Shamisen (banjo), Koto (zither), and possibly the Shishimai (Japanese lion dance). This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn more about the wonderful music that we have been privileged to enjoy. We are very pleased to welcome Tanis, who will further our profound and longstanding connection with GMBS Japan Branch, the leadership of Hideomi Aoki, and the kindness of Sakura Aoki. For further information about both events, please call Shari Greenwood at the GMBS, (712) 542 2461.
