HONORING THE MEMORY & MUSIC OF GLENN MILLER
Since 1977, the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society has honored the music and memory of Glenn Miller by offering an annual scholarship competition open to high school seniors and college freshmen who intend to make music a part of their future. Students from across the country apply for the scholarship and vocal 10 semi-finalists, and 10 instrumental semi-finalists are chosen to compete at the Glenn Miller Festival. Three winners are selected from each category and perform at the Stage Show the next day during the festival. The Glenn Miller Society awards a total of $12,000 in scholarships each year.

1st place vocal scholarship sponsor:
Jan Eberle Schaberg – GMBS Ray Eberle Vocal Scholarship of $3,000 is given in honor of Ray Eberle, the “boy singer” with the Glenn Miller Orchestra during the Big Band Era. Jan is Ray’s daughter.
2nd place vocal scholarship sponsor:
Bonnie Brewster – GMBS Ralph Brewster Vocal Scholarship is based on a substantial gift made to the GMBS in memory of Ralph Brewster, who was a member of the “Modernaires” vocal group which sang for years with Glenn Miller and his Orchestra. The bequest was made at his request and his wife, Bonnie. This scholarship of $2,000 is awarded to the 2nd place vocal winner.
3rd place vocal scholarship sponsor:
Jane Kelley – GMBS Jack & Harriet Pullan Vocal Scholarship - $1,000 is awarded to the 3rd place vocal winner. Jane Kelley finances this award to honor her father and mother.
Instrumental scholarships sponsor:
The Glenn Miller Birthplace Society sponsors all three instrumental scholarships.
